“Tweeney” Goes To Maximum Security Jail
May 22nd, 2008 Lane Garrison
Man, what’s up with “Prison Break” actor Lane Garrison, or better known as “Tweeney” in the series?
What has he done in his current prison that forces his transfer to one of the toughest prison in California? Did he try to accomplish what Michael Scofield had managed to pull out in the popular TV series?
This is Garrison’s fifth transfer since his imprisonment for vehicular manslaughter in October last year.
Fortunately it was only 40 months for him, which is only about three-and-a-half year, no that long if you ask me.
He was sent to jail for the December 2, 2006 crash that killed 17-year-old high school student Vahagn Setian, a passenger in his car. Two 15-year-old girls were also injured in the crash.
Prison officer did not say why he was transferred.
Of Course, It’s Cook. David Cook
May 22nd, 2008 David Cook
David Cook is American Idol 2008, beating other winner David Archuleta.
Moments before the result was announced I had some doubt that Cook could pull it off. But in the end, the overall performer and the all-rounder singer, emerged the winner.
Let’s see what type of records these two would come up, say in seven or eight months from now.
I’m still hoping to hear from Bailey Brown, the authentic country singer in Season 6 who was eliminated in the Hollywood round.
There Can Only Be Harrison Ford For Indiana Jones
May 21st, 2008 Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp
… and Johnny Depp for Captain Jack Sparrow.
What do Indiana Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow have in common? These two big screen movie characters are what Spiderman, Batman, Superman and James Bond are not.
They can’t be played by actors other than the ones who originally played them.
There can only be Harrison Ford for Indiana Jones and Johnny Depp for Jack Sparrow and until and when these two actors are no longer fit to play the characters, movie producers ought not take other actors to play the archeologist Dr Jones and the pirate Sparrow.
You can have Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig and Sean Connery as Agent 007, or James Belushi or Val Kilmer for Batman but try imagining Russel Crow as Jack Sparrow, or Brad Pit as Indiana Jones…
That is just how unique and original the two on-screen characters have become.
Jack Sparrow is about the same age when Indiana Jones left the scene after The Last Crusade some 20 years ago.
But we know now Dr Jones is coming back very soon with the fourth installment of the epic adventure, this time titled “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, with the same creative brains that has made the mother of all adventure movie exactly what it is — the mother of all adventure movie.
“I was happy to do another one just because they’re so much damn fun,” says Ford.
Ford is 65 going on 66 in July but Ford said Dr Jones was still fit. Having watched the Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade countless times, I definitly look forward to the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
David Cook vs David Archuleta, And The Goliath Of American Idol Fans
May 20th, 2008 David Archuleta, David Cook
So, Americal Idol Season 7 finale is finally here, to be stage in less than 24 hours from now. My bet is on David Cook. But here are some interesting read about the two Davids.
VOICE
David Cook: Plus: He’s got that late-in-the-day grunge growl down. Minus: It’s pretty late in the day for grunge growls.
David Archuleta: Plus: He has a husky timbre very much his own and a soulful tone as rich as cream. Minus: There isn’t a lot of variety going on in his phrasing, and there hasn’t been much growth in his approach to a song over the season.
LOOK
David Cook:Plus: He’s mall-rocker handsome. Minus: He could use a shave.
David Archuleta: Plus: He’s Kewpie-doll cute, with a dimpled visage born to grace every 13-year-old-girl’s dream lunchbox. Minus: He’s too much a teenybopper - not to mention too presexual for grown-up tastes.
PREFERRED SONG STYLE
David Cook: Plus: Cook’s faux-rock sound recalls runner-up Idol Chris Daughtry from season five, whom many viewers still think should have won his year. They proved it by buying six times as many copies of his album as they did of the one by last year’s crowned singer, Jordin Sparks. Minus: No minuses here
American Idol 2008: It Has To Be David Cook
May 20th, 2008 Uncategorized
When the American Idol, Season 7 was still in its preliminary stage, I thought of the possibility of having Michael Johns, Brooke White and David Archuleta in the remaining three, with Johns eventually emerging the winner.
It was the way Johns rendered Bohemian Rhapsody during the Hollywood elimination round that got me thinking this guy can rock.
David was out of the picture then, until he did what he did with Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean.
And he has been cooking ever since, consistently rising from one level to the next in the competition.
I have no doubt now the he will be this year’s Idol winner, irrespective of how the votes swing.
